Coral restoration isn’t glamorous. It’s slow, repetitive, and often invisible to the public eye. But here in Gili Air, we’ve seen firsthand how a few hands, some rubble, and a lot of patience can bring life back to a reef.
🔧 Our Approach
We grow coral through our dedicated coral farming program using a technique called microfragmentation. Instead of relying on rubble substrates or makeshift nursery frames, we carefully fragment healthy coral colonies into smaller pieces to encourage rapid regrowth. These microfragments are cultivated under monitored conditions on our farm before being reintroduced to degraded reef areas.
It’s a hands-on process requiring patience and precision—but it’s proven to accelerate coral recovery and boost long-term resilience.
🪸 Small Wins Matter
We don’t promise miracles. We promise small victories—a coral regrowing, fish returning, coral spawning unexpectedly. These moments drive us forward.
🤝 Built with Community
This isn’t just our job. It’s a shared mission. Fishermen, school kids, dive instructors—they all play a part. Restoration here is local, collective, and stitched together over time.
